Sisvel POS pool hits 30 licensor milestone; royalty rate discussions underway
Luxembourg, 4 June 2026: Sisvel POS, the cellular patent pool for payment terminals, has grown to include 30 licensors following the recent addition of further leading wireless standard essential patent (SEP) owners. Unisoc, Harfang IP, China Unicom, IP Innovation, PanOptis and Unwired Planet are among the latest entities to make their essential 2G-5G rights available through the programme.
Established in April 2026 by founding licensors Huawei, LG Electronics and Nokia, the pool has rapidly attracted a wide range of other innovators. These include Alfred Consulting, BlackBerry, Datang Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, JVCKENWOOD, KDDI, KPN, KT, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC, Pantech, Pegasus, Quectel, Siemens, Sisvel, SK Telecom, Vodafone and Wilus. Several other cellular SEP owners are still in the process of finalising their participation in the pool.
The market has taken notice of the programme’s growing momentum, and there is significant industry interest in the streamlined, efficient solution it offers for accessing multiple essential cellular patent portfolios through a single transaction.
As the pool formation process continues, the Sisvel team is working to develop a balanced royalty rate that will benefit both licensors and licensees.
