Sisvel names new head of AI pool development

Luxembourg, 9 June 2026: Willy Chang has been appointed Head of AI Pools at Sisvel, Europe’s biggest and longest-established patent pool operator. In this role, he will be responsible for driving the development of new patent pools and joint licensing programmes relating to AI and high-performance computing (HPC) technologies. He will report to Sisvel’s Chief Business Development Officer Jukka Nihtilä.

At the end of April, Sisvel made a call for patents reading on ultra ethernet technology. The company believes there is strong potential to build a licensing programme covering this rapidly developing next generation, high-speed wired networking technology which meets the needs of AI and high-performance computing workloads by moving data at unprecedented speed and scale. Among other things, Chang will now take the lead on this project.

Chang joins the company from Via LA, where he was most recently Vice-President, Global Strategy and Growth. Prior to his time at Via, Chang spent five years at Qualcomm as a Senior Director, legal counsel, and, before that, was a senior legal counsel at TSMC.
